Hi Team - as the writer I love the film - it is amazing to see my words lifted off the page and onto screen. Thanks for doing it justice. I am humbled by the effort made.

Hello Barnabe and Richard, I see that Richard also shot a version as well and it's great to see the spirit and support of you 2 although competing against each other. I had imagined this screenplay just like this. The choice of cast is GREAT! Color grading too (except it's sometimes too dark). The shots and the camera work totally creates an atmosphere, makes it very believable...and i think Richard is happy with this as well because i watched his version too and i can see you got very closer to what he wanted to shoot as he was writing. Even the costumes look very similar. Congratulations to you both.

I loved this short movie Magda, Barnabe. I found it quite emotional, first sad but then happy, then a little sad again. A bit of a roller coaster journey. Great job guys. Luke.

(London, UK) First Edit

First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Consider starting on the couple then go to the restaurant
  • Maybe have some wheezing from the woman, show she is in a bad way – when we return she is not wheezing so we know she has died
  • Some sound effects like dogs barking and police sirens may make the soundscape more interesting and dynamic
  • ADR some lines between homeless man and chef… need only be ‘help’ or ‘hungry…’
  • Loose the dissolves
  • Needs foley
  • Drop atmospheres away to end to emphasize loss
  • Drop The End title card, its ironically funny and some people will laugh

I had read the script but the acting and the brutal believabilty of this film was just so sad. Well done to all!

very nice and sad plus believable at the same time. I feel that the intro is a bit too short and you should add more music to build up the tension. great job!

Looks great. The lack of foley definitely is creating an unwanted emotional void here. The jump cuts would work much better if you had simultaneously jarring sound edits (a siren in one, her wheezing, dogs barking). I would've preferred to see the waiter's shift in attitude, since I'm not buying why he is complying with the request. A shift in his expression as the homeless pleads would've worked, but if you can't reshoot then as said above perhaps ADR can help create this bridge. I was unclear as to the ending but the suggestions above about sound should resolve any confusion.

I liked it. Was well shot. Clear. Precise. I think some additional sound would help, but it's very good already.
