'Jealous Making' by New Granary Productions

(London, UK) First Edit

First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Try a restructure and making it non linear, it might help he narrative
  • Drop some of his lines as he is not as good as her
  • Get a better Tweet sound, sounds too much like a real bird
  • Music missed too loud and drowns out emotion
  • Needs a grade

    I'd ADR the girls line "Did you hear about Paris". Your sound is generally good throughout the film, but that one line was hollow. I think you can get away with it easy enough since her head is partially turned when she says it.

    Also, the "tweet" sound goes off twice in the film and it sounds a little too high. I'd try lowering that just a tad so it's not as loud.

    I like what you did with this. Nice cute film. Good job!

    Though the film is made well I'm not detecting many of the writer's ideas here. Maybe I'm missing something?

    @Evan from the filmmaker:
    I started planning my shoot based on the second version of the script that the writer accidentally posted. I didn't see that there was a more recent version of the script until the night before my shoot!
    What I did was use the structure and dialogue from the version I was already planning, but tweaked it to try to take into account one of the most important notes the writer made: that she wanted a more happy/uplifting ending. So I cut the pregnancy and tried to tell a story about two people who actually find love through a pretty destructive practice that is "jealous making."
    It was very last minute but I hope it came off and at least got close to what the writer was going for.

    Some of her lines are a bit too quiet so would tweak the sound a little and would definitely play with the colour grading a bit more apart from that really enjoyed it.

    First time I'd seen it and I liked it!
    Music was right acting was good editing flowed and the story worked
