The makers of 50 Kisses, which is due to be part of Derby Quad's film festival next week, claim it to be the world's first crowdsourced feature film. I guess it could be argued that it isn't a feature at all because it is an amalgam

of shorts.

It was developed after a call went out at the London Screenwriters' festival in 2012 for two-page scripts which had to be set on Valentine's Day and feature a kiss.

Nearly 2,000 were submitted and 400 were offered to international film-making teams and only the cream of those were included in Fifty Kisses.
Cream is actually the word used by marketeers but I struggled to find one which was more deserving.

This is a super collection and even includes the best zombie scene I can recall seeing.

That sets the tone for a wonderful variety of work, ranging from the lovey-dovey to the anti-thesis of romance.

All have twists which a particularly clever, considering the speed at which they have to be introduced.

Fifty Kisses proves what an amazing array of writing talent is available to the UK film industry.
